Hey there! My name is Molly and I live in New York City with my lovely Irish fiancé .
I want to give a bit of background about myself and how I got to where I am today. About 6 years ago I was playing Division 1 college volleyball when I was in a very serious car accident. I fractured my neck, along with some pretty other painful injuries including scars on my right arm. Just to put into perspective how serious it was, I fractured my neck where Christopher Reeves (Superman 1978) did. He became quadriplegic due to his neck fracture. Thankfully, I survived. Not only can I walk, but I also was able to recover and continue playing volleyball.
Physically it was rough but not as rough as it was mentally. I’ve always been a worry wart, but my accident definitely heightened my anxiety. I would suffer from anxiety attacks daily about my loved ones getting hurt or dying. It felt like a never ending cycle and I couldn’t take it anymore.
With a kick in the butt from my fiancé and sister, I started to see a therapist. Something I probably should’ve done 5 years ago to cope with everything but hey, better late than never! After help from my therapist I can confidently say I know how to deal with my anxious thoughts.
After everything I had been through, I strongly believed that I survived my accident for a reason. I just had this feeling that I was meant to do something greater. I spent the next few years trying to figure it out and I decided to pursue a career helping others. I'm a Licensed Body Positive Coach, a Certified Health Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer.
There are many people out there struggling with similar things that I experienced.
Adjusting to life post-physical setbacks and injuries
Athletes overcoming injuries
Body image issues
Feeling down on yourself emotionally and mentally
I’ve been there and I know that feeling. That feeling that you alone are struggling. But you're not alone, there are many out there feeling the same way as you. I was there for a long period in my life. It was hard as hell but I got through it. The good news is that you can too.
We are all more powerful than we think.
